Hello to all FCMA families! My name is Sherri Roberts, lead teacher in the Bamboo Room. This is my fourth year with the FCMA family, but not with Montessori! My first teaching experience was in Montessori and while I’ve had varied experiences in my career, Montessori is always in my heart.
I am a life-long career student! I have a Bachelor’s from EMU in Elementary Education. I have a 6-9 (Lower Elementary) Montessori Certificate from the Michigan Montessori Teacher Education Center in Rochester. I then went on to get a Master’s in Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement from U of M-Dearborn. In 2013 I completed a Pre-Primary (3-6) on-line training course from North America Montessori Center. Most recently I have taken courses at Wayne State University in the field of special education. I have spent many years teaching in the classroom as well as leading a Montessori school in Troy.
When I am not working or going to school, I love to read. I make regular trips to the library. They know me by name! I also enjoy exercising; I have completed five triathlons in the past 4 years. I also enjoy hiking. I've been to all the local parks and then some.
I think that FCMA is a great place to be and hope you will agree! The Montessori philosophy is truly a wonderful way of helping children reach their true potential.
I have my Bachelor's degree, in Early Childhood Education, from Central Michigan University. I have 5 years experience teaching first grade in Virginia. Upon moving back to Michigan I floated around in the subbing pool searching for the "right" school. I found FCMA and fell in love!!
When I am not working I am enjoying my time with my daughter Riley, who is in the Redbud Room. I also find joy sell Origami Owl Jewelry.
